What is Reiki?
Reiki is a sacred Japanese healing technique employing the use of light touch to channel the Reiki energy, which facilitates stress reduction and deep relaxation, opening one up to deeper intuitive states of healing.
The ability to channel Reiki can only be given to a person by a Reiki Master in the process of attunement, which opens up a person’s energy field to receive Reiki and channel it through their hands. They may then give Reiki treatments to themselves or others.
The word Reiki (pronounced ray-kee) has many translations, but means something close to “spiritually-guided life-force energy”. Reiki has it’s own inherent wisdom, and as such it goes where it needs to go, attending to the physical, emotional, mental, and/or spiritual aspects of the client. It is also self-regulating, and as such does not rely on the direction of the practitioner, but works with the intention of the practitioner to assist in specific areas of healing.
What to expect during a Reiki session:
Reiki sessions last 1 hour, and generally bring a feeling of deep relaxation and restoration to the client, as though you are being wrapped in a blanket of warm glowing radiance. This is often accompanied by a strong sense of peace and calm that can last for days. Afterwards, many clients report feeling lighter and clearer, more present, and better able to handle the day-to-day stresses of their lives.
For each session, the client lies comfortably on a massage table, and simply relaxes. Once the session begins, you will likely feel the flow of Reiki energy as a sensation of warmth and peace begins to permeate your energy field and body, and you will most likely slip into a deep, relaxed state. The Reiki energy will continue to flow steadily for the duration of the session, and will go where it needs to go in accordance with the intention of the session, and the inherent wisdom of the Reiki itself.
